Sureva Towler wins awards for writing essays about her vintage Coleman cooler, and books about the county fair. She lives in Steamboat Springs where she disobeys leash laws and delights in the laughter and lies that remain the hallmark of frontier towns. Prior to moving West, Towler worked for the Democratic National Committee when JFK was president, the National Endowment for the Arts when it was band new, and HUD when model cities were hot. She moved to Colorado in the 70s as a single mom and, never having laid eyes on a cowboy, married Crazydave, a bare-back riding plumber from Midwest, Wyoming. She spent the next three decades building library and ambulance services while publishing a small town weekly and writing histories of Northwest Colorado.
